Wow, never realized Murph was written as a boy. I think the final choice adds a nice layer of complexity in familial, social, and gender dynamics. Now I'm curious to actually learn the process behind this choice. I can't imagine a script 10+ years in the making was as simple as they found the actress and rewrote it for her.
